Snazzy Snippets | Candy, Creepiness, and Breaking & Entering, oh my!

Ahh, I was going to do this last month and never got around to it — Emily from Loony Literate and Alyssa from The Devil Orders Takeout have  come up with a GREAT bimonthly link-up for writers: Snazzy Snippets, where we share bits of our writing, 500 words or less, in response to three prompts!

I’ve been in such a scattered writing slump lately (where I might be in a Super Organized and Motivated state of mind one day only to do a one-eighty and completely forget my book exists the next) — so I’m excited to do a little sharing.

1. A snippet with FOOD in it.

Screen shot 2015-09-10 at 4.27.10 PMThis is from the fourth book of my WIP ~fantasy series. (A little hint: the decadent, delicious display of desserts does not stay delicious and decadent for very long…)

2. A snippet you’re really proud of.

Screen shot 2015-09-10 at 5.13.40 PMI had to think about this for a while, because a lot of my favorite snippets are part of longer scenes that need way too much context to explain! But I like this, it’s a moment from my absolute favorite, creepiest chapter.

3. The First Paragraph from a WIP.

Screen shot 2015-09-10 at 4.40.35 PMCurrently, I’m supposed to be working on Book 5 (but I’m randomly editing chapter 13 of Book 3?? I’m in a scattered slump, I’ve told you this.) This is the first ~paragraph~ (more like the first couple, oops!) from that WIP.

PINK line

This was fun, I wish I could share more! If you also did the Snazzy Snippets link up, tell me in the comments! I can’t wait to read everyone’s stuff. 😀

  1. Ooh, those desserts sound quite wonderful, especially since they’re so over the top I do have this ominous feeling. A bit like the Turkish Delights in The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. And gah, are you writing horror? Because you have such a talent for making me shiver. (I swear that sounded much less weird in my head.) And wow, FIVE books? That’s so impressive!

Thanks for linking up with us!
